Plum Street Samplers ~ Crone on the Hill
(from Paulette...)
CRONE ON THE HILL
This design came about when I told my middle daughter, Sabrina, that most of our original neighbors had moved out of the circle we live on. My house is at the very top of the circle, which happens to sit on an upward slope. Because of this, Sabrina said to me, "Well I guess you're just the old crone on the hill then, aren't you?" Of course, she was only teasing me, but it made me laugh so hard, and I suddenly had the idea for this design.
Stitch count: 116w x 72h
Threads used:
Weeks Dye Works in Roasted Fig, Mascara, Sweet Potato, Parchment, Pecan, Oscar, and Graphite.
Classic Colorworks in Hickory Sticks.
DMC in 420, 645, 647, and 950. (A conversion to all DMC has been provided in the key.)
Stitches used: Cross stitch over two threads, cross stitch over one thread in a few small areas, some long-stitching and some back-stitching.
Accidentally Omitted from Chart: In my instructions, I was paying so much attention to the little long- and back-stitching details, I forgot to include that the Crone's face and the vulture's faces should be stitched over one linen thread! It is indicated on the chart, of course, but not in the Special Notes section.
